South Kensington is another affluent district within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea which offers elegant residential properties and beautiful garden squares. The area is filled with a plethora of cultural landmarks including the Science Museum, Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum and the Royal Albert Hall. The Natural History Museum is well noted for its Christmas outdoor ice rink and is used as the elegant backdrop for London Fashion Week. The Royal Albert Hall is home to the BBC Proms and is renowned for being the world’s greatest classical music festival, lasting 2 months over the summer season.
South Kensington is also home to several notable academic establishments including Imperial College, The Royal College of Music, The Royal College of Art and The Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle. There is a notable French contingency within the district and
several French bookshops, cafés, cinema and the French Institute.
Aside from cultural activities, South Kensington offers many quaint pubs and sophisticated bars that lie on Gloucester Road as well as being the home to the well renowned night spot, Boujis, which is known to be frequented by the likes of Princes Harry and William.
